Learn Guitar · Werner Bonthuys
Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern all guitar lessons provided by Werner Bonthuys ("the Teacher"), whether in-person at the student's residence or online. Booking or continuing lessons constitutes acceptance of these Terms.
1. Lesson Format
- Standard lessons are 60 minutes, unless otherwise agreed. Shorter or longer lessons are charged as agreed in advance.
- Lessons may take place in the student's residence or online.
- The Teacher provides instruction only and does not provide childcare or supervision beyond the lesson.
2. Rates & Payment
- The standard hourly rate is €40.
- Rates are reviewed periodically; continued lessons after changes indicate acceptance of the updated rate.
- Lessons are invoiced monthly and payable within 7 days of the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed.
- Late or unpaid invoices may result in suspension of further lessons.
3. Travel & Mobile Lessons
- Lessons are scheduled based on geographic feasibility. The Teacher may decline lessons that require excessive travel.
- Travel costs and time are included in the standard rate; extended travel may require adjustment of fees.
- Students must provide a safe, accessible, and reasonably quiet space for lessons.
4. Cancellations & Rescheduling
- At least 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule.
- Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice are charged in full, except in genuine emergencies.
- If the Teacher cancels, the lesson will be rescheduled or credited.
5. Children & Safeguarding
- For students under 18, a parent or guardian must be present during the lesson.
- The Teacher maintains professional boundaries at all times.
- Lessons are instructional only; no physical contact is required or expected.
6. Conduct & Environment
Lessons may be suspended or terminated if:
- The environment is unsafe or unsuitable
- Aggressive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behaviour occurs
- Repeated late payments or cancellations occur
No refunds are issued in these cases.
7. Liability
- The Teacher is not responsible for injury, damage, or loss occurring on the student's premises, except in cases of gross negligence.
- Students or parents/guardians are responsible for maintaining a safe environment.
8. Practice & Progress
- Progress depends on regular practice.
- The Teacher does not guarantee specific outcomes or timelines.
- Lack of progress due to insufficient practice is not grounds for refunds or rate adjustments.
9. Illness & Health Policy
- Students (or parents/guardians) must cancel lessons if the student is ill, including fever, flu-like symptoms, stomach illness, or other contagious conditions.
- If the Teacher arrives and determines that the student is unwell or that proceeding poses a health risk, the Teacher reserves the right to refuse to conduct the lesson.
- In such cases, the lesson is charged in full and is not eligible for refund or rescheduling.
- Failure to inform the Teacher of a student's illness prior to the lesson may, at the Teacher's discretion, result in the cancellation of all future lessons with that student.
This policy exists to protect the health of the Teacher and other students.
10. Termination
- Either party may terminate lessons with reasonable notice.
- Outstanding invoices remain payable after termination.
11. Privacy
- Personal information is used solely for lesson administration and communication.
- No information is shared with third parties without consent.
12. Acceptance
By booking or attending lessons, students or parents/guardians agree to these Terms of Service. These Terms may be updated periodically; continued lessons after changes constitute acceptance.
